Bite win pitch to create new website initiative for Brighton & Hove City Council
Brighton based Bite Studio were chosen, after a far reaching pitch process involving many large agencies, to develop and deliver the new Sussex Improvement Partnership website headed by Brighton & Hove City Council.
The Sussex Improvement Partnership brings together the fifteen principal local authorities in Sussex (Brighton & Hove City Council , West Sussex County Council, East Sussex County Council, Crawley Borough Council, Eastbourne Borough Council, Hastings Borough Council, Worthing Borough Council, Adur District Council, Arun District Council, Chichester District Council, Horsham District Council, Lewes District Council, Mid Sussex District Council, Rother District Council and Wealden District Council), Sussex Police and Fire and Rescue Services and other partnership organisations. It provides a framework for supporting local authorities to address the unique issues in their locality and to collaborate on the common issues faced by Sussex and by local government in general.
The partnership’s aim is to support innovation, improvement and efficiency in Sussex local authorities and partner organisations. The Partnership focuses on building capacity to respond to the challenges and opportunities we will face in Comprehensive Spending Review 2007 and beyond.
The Partnership’s approach is to meet local need and build on local knowledge and networks, in order to improve services and value for money for the benefit of people living in Sussex. They are committed to achieving this through collaboration; ensuring that activities are integrated with Local Area Agreements and other partnership activity. The Sussex Improvement Partnership is part of Improvement & Efficiency South East and works with its partners across the region. As such, they have been funded to deliver several key projects under the South East Improvement & Efficiency Strategy during 2008-2011.
Bite Studio designed and developed the website from the ground up, working within the strict web standard and accessibility guidelines set out by the Council. Bite worked in close partnership with the council's web delivery team to ensure compatibility between their design and the council's in-house content management system (CMS).
Approaching the pitch from a brand identity and technology standpoint allowed Bite Studio to design and develop a vibrant, fully dynamic user friendly site which would entice and engage users to interact on a regular basis. The website was built in a modular basis utilising some of the latest web technologies. Areas of the site include: interactive geographic map, events management, dynamic menu systems, search facility, news and event feeds and analytics allowing the project team to track site usage.
